Antiquity for Grammar 2018-19
PLEASE NOTE: Our bookstore pages are as complete as we can make them at this time. As teachers plan classes for the year, additions or deletions may be made. Booklists will be finalized by the beginning of August, and registered families will be notified when that occurs. Most of these books are worth having on your shelves, so we do not recommend that you turn down any great deals if you see them! But if you want to be absolutely sure, you may prefer to wait until our August deadline before you purchase.
Books for Classroom Use
NOTA BENE: A Picturesque Tale of Progress will be scheduled for selected readings in the classroom. We strongly suggest that you purchase these books, and read the rest of the chapters at home. We will provide a schedule for this. Book of Centuries, a blank timeline book from Cottage Press, is a required purchase for 2nd grade and up. Here students record the major events and people they encounter in their study of history, literature, science, art, and music. We will place a discounted group order from Cottage Press later in the summer. (Students who already have a copy from previous years should continue to use it, as this is a cumulative endeavor.)
Literature and Poetry Books:
Please note that Poems Every Child Should Know is a required purchase, as you will need to read each week’s poem at home with your students. COTTAGE PRESS POETRY READER Volume III – Group order will be placed in August. PURCHASE AT LEAST ONE PER FAMILY (older students should have their own copy to follow along as poems are read aloud at home).
There are a good number of the lovely old Opal Wheeler hardbacks on Amazon; these are definitely worth having on your shelf for your children and grandchildren! If you cannot find a suitable copy on Amazon, Zeezok Publishing has the entire series.
Books for Use At Home
This is a suggested reading list for the year. These are books are not required, but we will provide a sample schedule if you wish to enjoy them at home with your students.
